Mingan Project

The Mingan Project is a collaborative artist residency bringing together artists Chantal De Serres (abstract painting) and myself. This wonderful experience took place between June 15 and July 17, 2026, in Havre-Saint-Pierre and on the islands of the Mingan Archipelago.

This project was carried out in partnership with the municipality of Havre-St-Pierre, which provided us with a creative space open to the public on the second floor of the Maison de la Culture Roland-Jomphe. This space was designed as an evolving venue, allowing the public to follow the ongoing project.

We also benefited from the support of Parks Canada, which transported us by boat to the archipelago approximately three days a week. There, we created sketches, photographic and video captures, as well as observations of the territory.

During this residency, I was able to immerse myself in the environment of several islands in the archipelago. The works created reflect my fascination and wonder at the species observed during our exploratory visits to the islands.

Several works were created on the islands or in the studio during the residency. Moreover, I feel that this experience will continue to inspire me for a long time. I also hope to undertake the creation of an educational poster to highlight the treasures of the archipelago.

During our stay, several cultural mediation activities were organized, allowing us to share our passion with a wide audience. Our experience concluded with a closing reception held on July 14 in our creative space. Partners and friends were invited to discover the fruits of our explorations. This evening of thanks to our partners and exhibition of the artworks was a great success, with about fifty people attending.
